Once Upon a Time...

OK I'll admit it.. I have a thing for Royalty.

I totally enjoy being a silent voyeur into the private lives of kings, queens and all their lot. I'm not quite sure when this interest started - maybe it was all those fairytales I heard as a kid or maybe it was when we had to read about Akbar and other Indian emperors and their legacy in India as part of Indian history in school.

One cant quite be sure when these childish fancies develop - and i'm sure I had many such other varied "interests" growing up - but the one that has stuck with me through the years - is my love for everything Royal.

Today - some of my favorite books are about the lives of royals, I enjoy immensely every movie I can possibly watch on any king or queen - from the Kings Speech to Elizabeth and Marie Antoinette and from Mughal-e-Azam to Jodha Akbar - i've seen and enjoyed them all. I go to wikipedia and spend hours after watching a movie to read more about the king/queen/prince in the movie.

I was too young when Princess Diana got married - but I've seen the recorded footage of the wedding. When the princess died - I remember watching the funeral

When a new princess was being anointed - a new royal wedding in the works - I was there - popcorn in hand - in front of my TV set - watching the event and rooting for Kate.

And when a new prince was born - I was a silent part of the frenzy and truly happy for the monarchy!

God Save the Queen - because she and her family and other royal families offer an escape from reality for me - to a world of fantasies - and yes! in my fantasy world - the Royals lead a near perfect life - albeit full of intrigue.

And Welcome HRH George Alexander Louis! I look forward to reading about your many shenanigans
